After the new rains in Juiz de Fora, the City Council continues cleaning the streets of the city this Sunday (3). On social media, Mayor Margarida Salomão (PT) has commented on this.
According to the City Council, the teams are in places that have suffered the storm, such as Bairro Jardim Cachoeira. This Saturday, G1 showed that the region was flooded after the flood.
Live, Margarida thanked the Administration employees.
“I want to say that we are reacting and we want to thank everyone at City Hall who are currently engaged in such a tough task and are doing it brilliantly, indeed an indispensable effort at this time in the life of the city,” he said.
On the occasion, the mayor also explained that “he is reacting, but after going through this difficult period, we will act so that we are never so defenseless in this period”.
“There are challenges that we have to face that are unprecedented, like Covid-19, but we have water every year. So we cannot be so unprepared to face this situation, “added Margarida.
The mayor also reported that two Fire Department trucks were diverted after prank calls. “They could be used to help people,” he concluded in a post.

The rains registered on Friday (1st) and Saturday (2nd), caused damage in different regions of Juiz de Fora.
Hail was recorded on the first day of the year and the northern, western and northeast neighborhoods were affected. Trees fell with the force of the wind and the streets were flooded. No one was injured.

On Saturday, another storm hit the city. According to information from the Fire Department, Bairro Jardim Cachoeira has returned to the flooded streets.
Ibitiguaia Avenue, in Bairro Santa Luzia, was flooded. Floods were also recorded in the Borboleta, Mariano Procópio and Monte Castelo neighborhoods.
According to the Civil Defense, the region of Ciudad Universitaria was the place that rained the most this Saturday afternoon, 20.8 mm. In the Santa Terezinha neighborhood, the hydrological station marked 20.4 mm.
According to the balance released by the defense agency, seven events were attended on Friday and five on Saturday, before the rain. During the storm, the agency registered 12 more among the threat of wall collapse, infiltration and landslides.
The Paraibuna River reached 2.29 m at 4 in the afternoon. The normal level is 1.30 m / 1.35 m.
On Saturday morning a cleaning work group was held in the different places affected by the rains on Friday. The main actions were on Coronel Vidal Avenue, in the Cerâmica field, and in the Monte Castelo and Jardim Cachoeira neighborhoods.
