The new mayor of Recife (PE), João Campos (PSB), took office last Friday (1st) and, that same day, announced that his secretariat would be the first in the country to have gender parity, with half of the secretaries. occupied by women.

“Today, we can say that we went beyond what we had promised, when we said that at least 50% of the leadership positions in the mayor’s office would be filled by women. Because we are the first capital to have half of its secretariats run by women. # Representativeness“Campos wrote on his social networks.

On Saturday (2), the mayor published a photo with his entire team and, once again, he was proud to have formed a secretariat divided equally between men and women.

“Recife is the first capital in history to build a gender parity secretariat! There are 9 women and 9 men, each highly qualified for the size of the challenges. Let’s go Team! Recife is counting on us ”, he declared, also through social networks.

While gender parity is considered an important measure, João Campos received not only praise, but also criticism for the fact that his secretariat does not have blacks.

Anthropologist Debora Diniz, for example, exposed the “complexity” of the subject. “Gender parity occurs, Mayor, in complexity: how many men or women are black or indigenous? How many of your staff are people with disabilities? There are situations in which 9 to 9 give a zero sum, since they can be variations of it. I hope you have accepted the complexity, ”he said.

The journalist and designer Raife Sales, from Voz das Comunidade, was more direct. “Sir. Mayor, in a country with a black majority, what is that equality?” He asked.

Some netizens have already opted for irony. “Interesting composition of the secretariat of this Danish municipality,” wrote a Twitter user.
