A strong hailstorm changed the landscape in Bom Retiro, in the Serra de Santa Catarina, this Saturday afternoon (2). Roofs and cars were damaged. No damage was reported.
One of the points where the phenomenon was most intense is in Santa Clara. In the region, sections of BR-282 were covered by ice rocks.

According to businesswoman Karolina Herardt, who owns a store at km 137 of BR-282, the rain started around 2:15 p.m. and even damaged the roof of the shop.
“We’ve had the store here for 17 years and we’ve never seen anything like it,” he said.

Still, according to Karolina, the hail storm lasted about 12 minutes.
“It looked like snow had accumulated and a mist was lifted. It was beautiful to see and at the same time terrifying,” he said.

Many drivers even interrupted the trip and tried to protect themselves at the gas station, which is located on the side of the road in the town. Traffic was slow.
The businesswoman Docris Dressel, who lives in Balneario Camboriú, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina, said it was the first time she had witnessed the phenomenon with such intensity of ice stones.
“The sky was blue with black clouds and it wasn’t raining when the hail started. We ran to protect ourselves at the station. There were dented cars and even damaged headlights because it was very strong,” he explained. He also recorded videos and photos of the hail. (look down)

The cities that can be reached according to the forecast are: Braço do Trombudo, Brunópolis, Correia Pinto, Curitibanos, Dona Emma, Fraiburgo, Frei Rogério, Mirim Doce, Otacílio Costa, Palmeira, Ponte Alta, Ponte Alta do Norte, Pouso Redondo, President Getúlio, Rio do Campo, Rio do Oeste, Salete, Santa Cecília, São Cristóvão do Sul, São José do Cerrito, Taió, Vitor Meireles and Witmarsum.
