The power outage began on New Year’s Eve, December 31, when heavy rain knocked down poles, trees and damaged electrical wiring.

In the Olarias neighborhood, in the Parque Lagoas do Norte region, residents closed one of the avenues on Avenida Boa Esperança, setting fire to pieces of wood and tires. The restricted section is near the Encontro dos Rios, a tourist spot in the city.

According to Equatorial Piauí, the forecast of energy return, for all neighborhoods, is for noon on Sunday (3). The company reported that the power supply was hampered by the fall of 280 trees on the power grid.
“Due to the severity of the damage caused to the electrical system, the recovery works are very complex and have a slower recovery time,” explained the distributor.
