A head of water in a Capitólio waterfall in southern Minas Gerais dragged eleven people and left three missing on Saturday (2). According to the Fire Department, there are two possible deaths at the scene. One victim was detected by firefighters, who are trying to get her out and the other remains missing.

According to firefighters, the accident occurred in a region known as Cascatinha, in a waterfall in the Ecoparque Capitólio. The head of water, that is, the sudden increase in the volume of water caused by the rain surprised the people at the waterfall. Three victims were stranded on the edge of the waterfall, near the waterfall, but safe. Three other victims were stranded on a rock in the watercourse, one of whom had an open fracture.

Three other victims were washed away, one was rescued to the hospital and two others fell into Furnas Lake, one managed to get out and return to the surface, the other has submerged and is one of the possible deaths. Two other people are missing.

Firefighters from Piumhi and Passos, both in southern Minas, are on the scene, military personnel from the Battalion of Response to Environmental Emergencies and Disasters (Bemad) in Belo Horizonte are on their way to support the rescue. The town of Capitólio is a destination for many miners this holiday season.
