A small aircraft crashed, leaving three of the four occupants injured, this Saturday morning (2/1) while trying to land at JK airport, in Diamantina, in the Jequitinhonha river valley, 290 km from Belo Horizonte. The plane went to Minas de São Paulo to transport a patient with covid-19 from the city.

According to preliminary information from the Minas Gerais Military Fire Brigade (CBMMG), the aircraft landed to perform an aeromedical transport and had an accident during this maneuver.

The pilot, a copilot, a doctor and a nurse were on board. All three victims had minor injuries.

According to CBMMG, the plane is a Learjet twin-engine jet from Brazil Vidas Set Air Taxi. “At first, the plane left the runway at the time of landing. They were looking for a patient with covid-19 in the city to send him to another hospital, not yet informed,” reports the corporation.

The slightly injured were identified by the CBMMG as the nurse João Carlos Barbosa, 35, the doctor Amanda Gabriela Dourado, 24, and the co-pilot Eduardo Valim Macena, 30. The pilot Mauricio de Carvalho, 32, was not found injured.

Three rescue vehicles were dispatched to the scene of the accident to provide assistance to the injured and monitor the situation of the aircraft to prevent any possible fire.
