The video of a fisherman saving a baby dolphin that was tied to a fishing net went viral on social media and shocked Internet users. Autonomous Augusto Muniz, 39, was responsible for the rescue of the animal, which took place in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo. The moment the puppy is saved was recorded by the accompanying friend (see video above).
“God put us there at the right time. I won the year,” Muniz says in the video that went viral on the web.
In an interview with G1 This Saturday (2), the autonomous informs that he went fishing with his friend on the last day of the year, in Praia do Guaiúba. When the weather began to change, they decided to leave the place. “When I was leaving Guarujá, I saw the animal and it caught my attention. When I approached it, it was a dolphin, caught in a net. I think it was an accident, I helped it immediately.

Muniz explains that he had already carried out other rescues of animals at sea, which were wrapped in plastic and bags, but that he had never helped a dolphin. In the video, he can be seen carefully removing the net from the puppy and releasing the oil from the animal’s mouth. Then the autonomous kisses the dolphin and returns it to the sea. Augusto reports that the animal stood still, as if accepting help.
The autonomous and his friend celebrated the action. “God presented me with the action of saving the dolphin,” he says excitedly. He says he is grateful that he had the opportunity to end the year in this way.
Muniz explains that he practices selective sport fishing, and that the case must have been an accident, since fishermen who use nets generally leave them in places where they will not harm marine animals.

The freelancer also says that he goes fishing and diving in his spare time, but the trips have already yielded similar stories. It has already saved turtles and fish, which have been wrapped in objects irregularly discarded in the sea.
Muniz says that he respects species and animal welfare, and that this was an important opportunity. The action video went viral on social networks and reached thousands of Internet users. His care at the time of the rescue moved people.
“I took it and gave it a kiss, I said what it said in the video and I let it pass. I finished the year very happy,” he concludes.
