Rio – The National Private Insurance Council (CNSP) approved a zero premium for DPVAT in 2021 on Tuesday. This means that there will be no mandatory insurance policy for vehicle owners next year. Despite the zero cost, drivers will still be insured in the event of accidents. DPVAT is the mandatory insurance that is used to compensate victims of traffic accidents.
In addition, the CNSP authorized the hiring of a new operator by the Superintendency of Private Insurance (SUSEP) on an urgent and temporary basis. The new company is expected to be hired by Susep in the first week of January 2021.
Corroborating these efforts, the Federal Court of Accounts issued a precautionary decision on Tuesday, determining that CNSP and Susep must take the necessary measures to ensure the continued operation of the DPVAT insurance.
