A 55-year-old man was run over by a train at dawn this Sunday in Bairro Good views, West Region of Belo Horizonte. His leg was amputated and he was transferred to Joo XXIII Hospital, in the South-Central region of the capital.
Six fire trucks and two from the Military Police (PM) attended the scene.
Stable, the man was transferred to the hospital in an ambulance of the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu). There is still no information on how the accident occurred.
The front-line company speaks
VLI, responsible for the railway where the accident occurred, regretted the case and said that the driver of the locomotive applied the emergency brakes as soon as he saw the man, who was lying on the track, according to the company.
“The company emphasizes that the crossing should only take place at the marked places and when crossing the all-important road that drivers and pedestrians follow the guidelines of ‘stop, look and listen’. By applying the emergency brakes, a train can travel up to 1 (one) kilometer to come to a complete stop ”, says the note sent by VLI this morning.
