In the midst of the new escalation of Covid-19, the city of Rio de Janeiro decided to announce more restrictive measures to avoid crowds on New Year’s Eve. In addition to isolating the Copacabana neighborhood, the acting mayor, Jorge Felippe, prohibited the burning of fireworks throughout the city, including hotels, from midnight on the 31st to 7am on the 1st. the use of sound equipment on the shore. Measures to discourage crowds also include blocking parking on the edge and surrounding streets, as well as blocking the circulation of public transport for access to Copacabana and Barra da Tijuca from 8 pm on the 31st.
