Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), defended that the vaccine against covid-19 must reach all parts of the country as soon as possible. In the midst of a political war for the immunizer, Gilmar wrote on social media this Friday (12/25): “Vaccines have no ideology.”

“Its scientific function is to save lives, as it has been doing for so many years. Almost 190,000 have already been through covid-19. Immunization is urgent and must cover the entire country,” said the minister.

Political dispute

In a live broadcast on Christmas Eve, President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) attacked the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), who has led the negotiations for the purchase of supplies and production of the CoronaVac vaccine. After the Butatan Institute, which develops the immunizer in partnership with China’s Sinovac, postponed the release of the data, Bolsonaro said, without showing evidence, that the effectiveness of the vaccine was “down there.”
