Sergeant Anderson Quinhão Vieira, from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police, was shot and died on Thursday morning (24) in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense.
The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police are investigating what happened to the policeman.
According to the RJ Military Police Secretariat, officers from the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias) came to verify information that cargo theft was taking place on Avenida Narcisa Amália, in the Imbariê neighborhood.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the police officer wounded. Police believe the killers are bandits who allegedly tried to rob a truck with a load of video games and shot the sergeant after he showed up. Images from security cameras recorded at the time the policeman was shot.
The policeman was taken to the Adão Pereira Nunes State Hospital but did not resist.
The policeman was 43 years old and was assigned to 41 BPM (Irajá). He joined the Prime Minister in 2001. Sergeant Anderson Quinhão Vieira leaves behind a wife and daughter.
The PM reported that he is providing all the support to the policeman’s family. So far, there is no time or place of burial.
