In a press conference held on Wednesday (23), the São Paulo state government and the Butantan Institute affirmed that Coronavac reached the level of effectiveness required by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the World Health Organization (WHO ), of at least 50%, in phase 3 of the surveys.

However, the degree of effectiveness achieved by the immunizer in the final phase of testing has not been revealed, as promised. The São Paulo government had already committed to releasing the detailed results of phase 3 of the studies last week, but again postponed the release of this information for contractual reasons.

At the beginning of the week, the immunizer was the first vaccine to receive Good Manufacturing Practice certification from Anvisa. On Wednesday, the Astrazeneca vaccine in partnership with the University of Oxford was the newest drug against Covid-19 to receive certification.
