According to a report released by ESPN on Wednesday, two officials from different areas of Santos reported the cases to President Orlando Rollo.
The accusation of racism comes from a club lawyer against Roberto Rabelato, the manager of the comptroller’s office. According to the official, Rabelato said “this is the slave barracks” when he saw him after opening the door of a club room. The manager confirmed.
– When I got here, I thought it was going to be different. However, Rabelato never gave me a chance. I was holding things the whole time. It had to be his way, right? I have 33 years of legal practice, I think I understand something. At no point did we have a relationship. He barely looked me in the face, he barely said good morning and told me he wanted distance. I’m a man and I didn’t say anything because I think that’s the way to go – the lawyer began.
– So I’m talking to your face here, to your eyes. Let him say here that he never opened the office door there one day and said “this is the slave quarters.” I want him to say that, he didn’t say that. He was so amazed that he couldn’t believe it. So I want him to tell me to my face that he has a problem with me because I’m black because I don’t think so. Now that he said it to my face, he did. But he did not speak thus directly. He opened the door, looked and said ‘oh, this is the slave quarters’. Why did he do it? I dont know. He’s drowning here – completed the professional.
Rollo, who was present at the meeting, warned of the seriousness of the accusation and promised to arrange a meeting with Rabelato. In an audio released by the report, he confirmed what he told the lawyer.
“Yes, it does,” admitted the manager.

The other case, of moral harassment, was reported by a member of the Santos Human Resources department. She, like the lawyer, is also black. The accused is Luiz Eduardo Silveira, administrative and financial superintendent.
The employee claims to have been humiliated by the leader. He made several demands on President Orlando Rollo, who would not have taken any action after a month of the charges.
The woman was hired to be a human resources supervisor, but she soon saw that the reality would be different. Without further explanation, she ended up being transferred by Luiz Eduardo Silveira to the marketing area.
– (He) put me at a table at the back of the room, without a computer, cut me off my email access and didn’t explain anything to me. From the beginning, I warned the president. I told them everything that happened from the beginning and things were getting worse. Luiz removed me from HR, humiliated me and continued to ignore me at the club as if I didn’t exist (…) He said that I didn’t have the profile to be an HR manager, I didn’t have the profile to be an HR manager, much less win the salary they offered me. And he began to humiliate me – reported the professional.
– I asked him how he could say something if he didn’t even see the work. And he kept humiliating me. He said: “Your salary will be this, I did not let the president give you the salary he wanted to pay you. And you do not have the right to housing, only those who have housing are superintendents.” He kept humiliating me all the time, ”he continued.
In a note sent to ESPN, Santos says that he “decided to refer the matter to the Investigation and Inquiry Division, to investigate what happened and the necessary measures.”
Both Roberto Rabelato and Luiz Eduardo Silveira were recently hired by President Orlando Rollo, who took office after José Carlos Peres, the former president, was removed from office, first temporarily and then permanently.
Rollo’s term ends at the end of this year. Andrés Rueda, president-elect, who will take over the club from 2021, spoke about what happened through the press office. See note:
“The president-elect of Santos, Andrés Rueda, learned from the press about the accusations of racism that are made among the Club’s employees. We await the position of the current leadership of the Club and await in-depth investigations into these discrimination cases. , “Nothing will be tolerated in this regard and we look to the current leadership to take strong action.”
