Felipão knew his second defeat at the helm of Cruzeiro

The technician’s response came after questions from journalists about the delay in making changes to the team. Felipão highlighted the performance of Ponte Preta and praised the rival. “We sinned because we had 11 opponents on the other side, who also play the game trying to win. We lost. There is no use trying to explain it. I have to try to explain to the players so that we have performances like the ones we already had, because it is not that we play with the ball under our arms, we want to score two, three goals. The fact is that we did not succeed ”.
According to Felipão, the work of structuring a team thinking about 2021 has already been done. “It is discouraging for everyone (the results). We have to make a reflection in all the senses to know what we are going to do with the Cruzeiro next year and what can be done with everything that happened this year ”, he says.
With the defeat against Ponte Preta, Cruzeiro stops at 40 points, in eleventh position, and sees even more remote the chances of accessing Serie AA, seven games remaining for the end of Serie B, the distance to G- 4 is 9 points. Felipão followed the speech adopted since his arrival in Raposa and, once again, cited that the focus was on ensuring permanence in Serie B, avoiding analyzing the reduction in income in the Second National Division.
“I don’t have to solve a financial problem. I have to solve my part in the field. We have been talking about some situations, but we have to talk about the current situation, which still worries us. We will speak clearly when we have the guaranteed points, at least, to continue in Serie B ”, he says.
Cruzeiro will have a week off until the next game, against Cuiabá. The match is scheduled for Tuesday (29), at 9:30 p.m., at Arena Independência, in Belo Horizonte.
