Suzane von Richthofen left the Santa Maria Eufrásia Pelletier Penitentiary, in Tremembé, in the interior of São Paulo, this morning for another temporary Christmas and New Year break. The detainee was arrested in 2002 for killing her parents and will be released until January 5.
Wearing a protective mask against covid-19, Suzane and other detainees left the unit around 8:15 a.m. The progression from the closed to the semi-open regime occurred in October 2015 in the case of Suzane, who had her first “saidinha” in March 2016, during the Easter period.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this will be the only “saidinha” that prisoners of the semi-open regime will have access to this year. In March, the exit benefit was suspended to avoid contamination by covid-19. In São Paulo, detainees will have a prolonged leave, with the addition of 5 days, for a total of 15 days outside the penitentiaries, as determined by Deecrim (Department of State Criminal Executions).
They also had access to the same benefit as Anna Carolina Jatobá, who was convicted for the death of her stepdaughter Isabela Nardoni, and Elize Matsunaga, who was arrested for killing and dismembering her husband Marcos Matsunaga.
Punished after being caught at a wedding party
Judge Wania Regina da Cunha, of the Taubaté Criminal Execution Court, in the interior of São Paulo, had suspended three temporary exits for Suzane von Richthofen in 2019, after the detainee participated in a wedding party, in the neighborhood of Estoril. At that time, the judge understood that the act was a serious offense.
Departures for Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were suspended, but Sueli Zeraik on duty understood the opposite of Wania Cunha and allowed Suzane’s temporary departures.
The MP-SP (Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo) appealed, but the TJ-SP (Court of Justice of São Paulo) allowed Suzane to have the benefit of “saidinha.”
In the semi-open regime agreement, Suzane must stay at the reported address for the exit, which would be the groom’s house, located in Angatuba.
