Accident between bus and truck kills 7 people and leaves 34 other injuries on Assis Chateaubriand highway | Prudent President and Region

Firefighters from the region worked to rescue the victims.

Among the injured, 14 were rescued in serious condition.

According to the Highway Police, the tourist bus with the Pelotas (RS) sign started its journey in São Félix do Xingu, in Pará, and was heading to Rio Grande do Sul.

There is still no information on the number of passengers on the bus, nor on the identity of the victims.

The circumstances or causes of the accident will be investigated.

According to the Santa Casa de Misericordia de Osvaldo Cruz, 21 victims of the accident were treated at the unit, which is located about 13 kilometers from Parapuã. Other victims were transferred to hospitals in Parapuã, Tupã and Marília.

Of the patients treated at Osvaldo Cruz, six remain hospitalized, six under observation, and two have been transferred to Marília. The rest were released.

In Santa Casa de Parapuã, ten people received medical attention, three were discharged and seven patients were transferred to Marília.

In Tupã, Santa Casa received five victims and all remain hospitalized.

In total, nine people were sent to Santa Casa de Marília. However, the unit informed the Frontier tv this Tuesday morning (22) he was unable to provide information on patients.

Among the seven fatal victims of the accident, two were identified as brothers. Bartogaleno Alexandre dos Santos, 33, and Donizete Alexandre dos Santos Filho, 30, were residents of Lucélia and were in the truck. The vehicle was driven by Donizete.

The bodies of the brothers were taken to Lucélia. The burial is scheduled for 5 pm on Tuesday (22).

The other five victims were transferred to the Tupã Medical Legal Institute (IML) and await the recognition of their relatives.

Two women and three men died, one of whom was the bus driver.
