The 1-0 victory over Santos, which broke Vasco’s quick seven-game matchless win, was effusively celebrated by players and coaching staff. (see the video above). However, a situation occurred that caused discomfort and enraged manager Ricardo Sá Pinto and other important figures from the Basque football department shortly after the final whistle, still in São Januário, on Sunday: Ribamar did not participate in work that is traditionally assigned to athletes who are not used during matches.
According to the athlete’s coaching staff, Ribamar complained to the coaching staff that he felt bad during the game while he was on the bench and, therefore, asked not to train after the game.
The attacker’s stance did not please the coaching staff and there may be consequences. With a contract until December 31, Ribamar will hardly return to play for Vasco with Ricardo Sá Pinto. People close to him assure that the coach understood that the attacker did not have group spirit after an important victory.

The attitude surprised the members of the football department, since Ribamar is very loved by the staff and officials in São Januário. He was always seen as a group player.
Author of the first goal for Vasco under Ricardo Sá Pinto, in the 2-1 loss to Corinthians, Ribamar lost space and has been playing little with the coach. His contract expires next week, December 31, and will probably not be renewed.
Hired at the beginning of 2019, by coach Alberto Valentim, he played 64 games and scored eight goals for the club. There were currents that defended the attempt to extend Ribamar’s loan with the Ohod Saudis. The justification is that the group is short and involved in the fight against relegation. However, this attitude strengthens those who see the end of the relationship as the most appropriate path.
