Many people were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, lost their jobs and were left without income. But not only these workers felt the effects, but also those insured by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). Therefore, the Bahian Jefferson Brandão prepared a legislative suggestion (SUG) for the payment of a extra subscription for the amount of R $ 2 thousand to this hearing.
According to the text of SUG No. 15/2020, INSS retirees and pensioners, in addition to the insured who are entitled to the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) can receive the additional amount. This while the state of public calamity is in force in the country.
The argument in favor of the payment is that the group in question is the vulnerable portion of the population, especially since it belongs to risk groups and that they were not eligible to receive emergency aid.
Officialized in June and with popular support, the proposal received more than 26,000 signatures, through a virtual petition. The text is still being analyzed by the Federal Senate’s Commission on Human Rights and Participatory Legislation.
How does the extra $ 2,000 bonus work?
The proposal proposes that retirees, pensioners and beneficiaries of the BPC, whose income is up to three minimum wages (R $ 3,135), receive the extra allocation of R $ 2,000. The additional resources are intended to mitigate the economic impacts caused by the new coronavirus pandemic.
As already mentioned, the basis of the idea is that the category is one of the most affected by the Covid-19 crisis, along with the beneficiaries of the federal government’s social programs.
If approved, the SUG will guarantee the allocation at the end of the year. That while the decree that establishes the state of public calamity in the country, scheduled until December 31, is in force.
