In a previous statement, the hospital said that on December 17 it administered its first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to six people, three doctors and three nurses. “Shortly after and during a press interview, one of the nurses became dizzy and they helped her to bed. She never lost consciousness. And she recovered quickly,” he said.

The nurse explained that she has a history of vasovagal syncope. “I have a history of an overactive vagal response, so if I have pain related to something, a nail, or if I cut my toe, for example, I pass out.”

He also recorded a video clarifying the episode.

According to the hospital, the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) says that fainting can occur after many types of vaccination.

“The fainting episode is not an adverse reaction to the vaccine, it is related to your medical condition,” Jesse L. Tucker, an intensive care physician at CHI Memorial, told a news conference after the episode.

Some of the false messages also criticize the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, and the “Chinese vaccine.” But the vaccine applied to the nurse is not the one developed by the pharmaceutical company Sinovac in association with the Butantan Institute.
