The game
With the 11 considered ideal by Pachequinho, Coritiba started differently, and shortly after the opening whistle two attacks by Verdão brought danger, but Neilton lacked much attention. The pressure continued Alviverde and at 6 minutes Rafinha helped to pull the counterattack, Giovanni arrived in the center from the right, but he only managed to head the ball, ended up deflected and went to the baseline.
Playing with low lines of defense, Coritiba and Botafogo had the same game proposal, to use the counterattack. So the game got off to a quick start and give and take, but difficulty was the finishing touch. At 18 minutes, Pedro Raúl loaded the mark, invaded the area and hit point blank range from Wilson, who defended in two halves and saved what would be Botafogo’s goal.
In Coritiba’s first corner, in the catch by Giovanni Augusto, Rhodolfo headed in and the ball went close to the goal, but went wide. And the goal was maturing with Neílton, who stole the ball, started the counterattack and passed it to Giovanni, at the table, the shirt 10 received again and Cavalieri saved the first shot, but on the rebound the attacker did not forgive and opened the scoreboard in Couto Pereira.
In the second half, Pachequinho removed the yellowish Matheus Galdezani and placed Hugo Moura in position. In the attack, the duo Giovanni Augusto came back and stood firm, after 4 minutes, the 90 shirt shot from the left to the middle and the attacker came hitting, but sent it out. With a little more offense, Botafogo began to jeopardize Wilson’s goal, which promoted great defenses.
In the construction of the play on the right, the ball reached Cicero, the player sent and Pedro Raúl deflected and tied the game 30 minutes into the second half. Botafogo’s pressure only increased, coming in from the right, Rhuan ended up kicking the ground and missed a goal. In the corner at 34, Lecaros sent the ball to the center of the area, when Matheus Sales arrived playing and the ball took the player’s hand. On the penalty spot, Pedro Raúl beat goalkeeper Wilson, who hit the right corner, but was unable to defend.
After the return, the pressure became a defensive force and Botafogo tried to preserve the score. With several substitutions from Pachequinho, Coritiba lost the offense and the defense line stopped working as in the first stage. In the golden opportunity, in the 45th minute of the second half, a penalty scored for Coxa and Sabino missed the penalty.
