D’Alessandro had a perfect result for his history as an international player. In a direct confrontation for the first places, Colorado beat Palmeiras by 2 to 0, today (19), in Beira-Rio, for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. The victory brought Inter back to the G-4 after two days of absence. Edenilson and Yuri Alberto were the scorers of the night.
This was the second consecutive victory for Inter, which ended a losing streak of seven games without a win at Brasileirão. Abel Braga’s team reached 44 points and ranked fourth. Palmeiras, who lost for the sixth time in the competition, lost a position to Grêmio and are in sixth place, with 41 points.
On the next day, Inter will play away from home to seek their third consecutive victory on the 27th, against Bahia. Palmeiras will try to recover on the same day, at Allianz Parque, against Red Bull Bragantino.
The end of an era
The match against Palmeiras was marked by the farewell of one of the great idols in Inter’s history. At 39, D’Alessandro made his last game with Colorado playing for eight minutes. He joined the club in 2008 and, in 12 years, he won 13 titles, including the 2010 Libertadores and the 2008 Copa Sudamericana. There were 517 games and 92 goals.
D’Alessandro was called to take the field in minute 42 of the second half, when the match was already 2-0. He won the title of captain from Rodrigo Dourado, while the sound system paid tribute to the Argentine with traditional songs. red.
Tribute to D’Alessandro
At 10 minutes into the first half, the Inter fans paid tribute to D’Alessandro. A rocket on the outskirts of Beira-Rio signaled the end of a period full of glories in Colorado history and even invaded the moment of celebrating Inter’s first goal.
Fasting continues
Brasileirão’s top scorer with 15 goals, Thiago Galhardo completed 55 days without scoring in the national competition. His last goal came in a 2-2 draw with Flamengo, in Beira-Rio, on October 25. At the time, Colorado was still the leader of the competition.
Possession x efficiency
Escalated with three owners and no sprinters, Palmeiras suffered to disrupt Inter’s defense. The alviverde team had 56% possession in the first half, but failed to turn that into great opportunities. The team only had a submission from Gustavo Scarpa, but he did not go towards the goal either.
Difficulty in creation
Inter proposed to close the spaces of Palmeiras and had up to nine intermediaries behind when they were out of possession. Still, he had the best chances in the first half. In addition to Edenilson’s goal, Thiago Galhardo had a good chance to score with a header, but sent it off after a cross from Caio Vidal.
Game caught
After the first part of the first part, the duel was fierce. With a fierce dispute for ball possession in the congested midfield, the game had three yellow cards in a four-minute interval: Caio Vidal, for Inter, and Willian and Gabriel Menino, for Palmeiras. There were also many complaints from referee Sávio Pereira Sampaio for having paralyzed the game so many times. In the first half there were 16 fouls from Palmeiras and 8 from Inter.
Changing landscape
Palmeiras returned from the break with a change. The entry of Breno Lopes in the place of Raphael Veiga left the team more incisive. Later, with the entries of Gabriel Veron and Zé Rafael, Abel Ferreira’s team came to dominate the confrontation and was close to a draw. However, the lack of aim was the main reason for Alviverde to return from Porto Alegre with the defeat.
Closed team
At the same time, Inter could not keep up with Palmeiras in the 20th minute of the second half. Abel Braga preferred to reinforce the brand, with Rodrigo Lindoso replacing Thiago Galhardo, and guaranteeing the second consecutive victory at Brasileirão. Playing the counterattack, Colorado made the gap at the right moment for Yuri Alberto to complete the victory.
Game timeline
At 11 minutes, Edenilson opened the scoring. After a corner kick from the left, Rodrigo Dourado heads into the right corner for a good save from Weverton. The ball hits the post and the Colorado wheel is pushed into the goal.
In the second half, the game got livelier. Inter came close to scoring the second goal in a confusing play inside the area. After Edenilson’s center, Thiago Galhardo won from behind, but came out headlong.
With the changes, Palmeiras managed to scare goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba on several occasions. In the main, at 22 minutes, Mayke made a good pass on the right and crossed. In an attempt to cut, Cuesta hit the crossbar.
And as Palmeiras did not succeed, Inter did not fail. In a well-designed counterattack from the left, Yuri Alberto was released and had the peace of mind to touch Weverton in the 38th minute.
The best
Rodrigo Dourado was taken to the starting eleven with the return of Abel Braga to Beira-Rio. Against Palmeiras he played a decisive role. Besides being the header that originated the first goal, scored by Edenilson, he commanded the efficient scoring system that made it difficult for Alviverde to create plays.
