Rome, Dec 19 2020 (AFP) – Italy, one of the countries most affected by the covid-19 pandemic, will impose a total confinement from December 21 to January 6, during the Christmas holidays, the first announced on Friday . Minister, Giuseppe Conte.

During this period, shops, bars and restaurants will remain closed, travel between regions will not be allowed and only one exit per day per residence will be authorized, the head of government announced at the end of a council of ministers.

“Our specialists fear that the curve of the disease increases at Christmas”, justifies Giuseppe Conte. The CEO asked Italians to respect the limit of two adult guests.

“We can talk about the red zone,” said Conte, noting that the closure will be eased on December 28, 29 and 30, as well as on January 4, days in which trade will last until 9:00 p.m. and there will be no need to justify the displacement.

Italy has a population of 60 million and is one of the European countries with the largest number of older people.
