A man died on Friday (12/18) when he was buried while working in Crrego do Feijo Mine, in Brumadinho, Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. According to information from the Fire Department, he is an employee of a company subcontracted by Vale. His name was not released by the firm.

Also according to the corporation, the victim of a bulldozer, who was hit by a landslide farms. The hut was reportedly broken by the force of the earth and iron ore stones.

The death was confirmed by the Fire Department on Friday night. They isolated the place, where many workers from the mining company tried to help in the search.

The burial did not take place in a search area for the victims of the B1 dam rupture on January 25, 2019, which killed 259 people and left 11 others missing. In fact, it is a disposal area, near the main shaft of the mine.

As it is a place of difficult access, the Arcanjo helicopter was transferred to help the victim. A Civil Defense team also went to the scene to help rescue the body.

Vale deeply regrets the death of an employee of the contracted company Vale Verde this Friday afternoon (12/18) at the Crrego do Feijo mine and expresses solidarity with family members and co-workers. The worker was on an excavator and performing maintenance activities when he was struck by a landslide from the paralyzed well.

Vale, together with the contracted company, provide support to the employee’s family members. The companies are supporting the authorities in handling the case and investigating the causes of the accident. On-site maintenance activities will be suspended for further studies and assessments of safety conditions. “
