Kalil became a target of the Bolsonaro family after answering a question about 2022

After the deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL) criticized the mayor of Belo Horizonte, Alexandre Kalil (PSD), President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) immobilized the head of the municipal executive during the night of Thursday live (17). Kalil became the target of the Bolsonaro clan after he responded earlier this month to a question about running for the presidency of the Republic in 2022.

Bolsonaro criticized Kalil during a speech in defense of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Kassio Nunes Marques, who was criticized online for voting in the case of the mandatory vaccine against covid-19. Appointed by Bolsonaro, the minister voted on the condition that mandatory vaccination would have to be a last resort and that the federal government would have to take restrictive measures. At that time, the president summoned Kalil and recalled that he asked for votes for Bruno Engler (PRTB), who had only 9.95% of the voters’ preference.

“There are new mayors taking office now in January. The vaccine will not be ready in December, so it will be up to the mayors. You who re-elected the mayor of your city, you knew his life. Did you meet the mayor of Belo Horizonte? That I asked for a vote for another boy (Bruno Engler) and re-elected the boy (Kalil)? He closed everything. What will your attitude be now? I dont know. But you chose him. So if it closes, it’s your problem. Didn’t you vote for him? Shooting.

Kalil was re-elected with 63.36% of the votes, a sign that the population approved the management of his government in the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic. BH is among the capitals with the lowest number of deaths in the country.

Eduardo Bolsonaro

Earlier this month, Kalil (PSD) was called a ‘dictator’ by deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL). Kalil participated in the Roda Viva Program, TV Culture, and asked about leading a ticket to 2022.

“If they want to take me, of course I will. Today I am the mayor of Belo Horizonte. Now: if they take me there, thank you very much,” Kalil said, admitting that he could be the leader of a PSD ticket to compete. In addition to the response, Kalil criticized President Jair Bolsonaro for his lack of leadership in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

The next day, Eduardo Bolsonaro posted an excerpt from Kalil’s interview on his Twitter account with the following title: ‘BH chose a dictator.’ In the video, Kalil says he may shut down the city once more if the covid-19 pandemic gets out of hand.
