OR America achieved the fourth consecutive victory in the Series B of the Brazilian Championship with a 2 to 1 victory over the Figueirense, this Thursday, at the Orlando Scarpelli Stadium, in Florianpolis, for round 29. The result leaves the miners two points behind the leader Chapecoense.
In the next round, America will have a direct showdown at the end of the table. Miners will receive the Chapecoense, this Sunday, at 4pm, in IndependĂȘncia, for the 30th day. That same day, Figueira faced the Guarani, at 6.15pm, at the Brinco de Ouro Estdio, in Campinas.
The game
Amid the rain and slippery grass, Orlando Scarpelli’s duel began truncated. America tried to make an initial pressure, however, it was difficult to break the opposing lines to advance in the attack. The owners of the house, in turn, tried to take advantage of Coelho’s mistakes.
At eight minutes, Figueirense’s initial strategy worked. In a well loaded corner, Matthew neris took advantage of the defense failure to score and hit the angle of Matheus Cavichioli: 1 to 0 on the scoreboard.
The pace of play continued to be favorable for Figueira in the middle of the initial stage. In the 19th minute, Cavichioli made a beautiful save after expelling midfielder Bruno Michel from the box. America’s first good chance came in the sequence, but Geovane’s shot was ruled out by goalkeeper Rodolfo Castro.
Still in the early stages, coach Lisca was forced to make the first change at Coelho. Left back Joo Paulo felt a muscle problem in his left thigh and called out for Svio. With fresh blood on the field, Coelho sought to pick up the pace and take over the game.
The American pressure began to work already in the final minutes of the 1st Q. At 37 minutes, Rodolfo received the ball from the right, finished off and took advantage of the goalkeeper’s foul to tie the score: 1 to 1.
Back in the locker room, America was accurate. Midfielder Geovane made a beautiful cross towards Ademir, who finished first in the goalkeeper’s left corner and scored the second goal in the game: 2 to 1. A great goal!
Coelho continued at an intense pace during the final stage. After a corner, Messias headed in and forced goalkeeper Rodolfo Castro to make a difficult defense in the left corner. Figueira, from Jorginho, however, has been stuck in the alviverde brand.
The miners began to control the party’s actions without giving opponents opportunities. After four minutes of added time, referee Vincius Furlan whistled for the end of the match.
