Brazil registers 70 thousand cases and reaches 7 million infections

Brazil confirmed for the first time since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic more than 70,000 infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a single day. According to the balance of the Ministry of Health, 70,574 positive diagnoses were registered in the last 24 hours. With the incorporation, Brazil has exceeded the 7 million mark infected since the start of the pandemic. In total, 7,040,608 people tested positive.

Not even in July, considered the peak of the covid-19 curve in Brazil, did the country register such a high daily update of cases. The highest number was registered on July 29, when the country confirmed 69,074 infections.

The sad history of cases occurs on the same day that the Ministry of Health launched the national immunization plan against covid-19. According to the Ministry of Health, vaccination should start in February.

After observing a drop in the case-death curve, the country has seen the daily average of infections and deaths since the beginning of November. According to an analysis by the National Council of Health Secretaries, an average of 677 people die per day and there is an increase of 44,594 daily cases.

The average is high and the highest registered by Conass was 46,536 on July 29, considered the month in which Brazil reached the peak of the covid-19 curve.

The mark of 7 million positive diagnoses was only reached by the United States, which already has more than 16 million cases, and India, which is close to 10 million positive tests.

It is worth remembering that the death toll has also increased. For the second day in a row, Brazil registered more than 900 deaths in 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health, there were 936 more deaths in 24 hours. Daily update mark that had not been reached since September 30, when the country recorded 1,031 deaths in 24 hours. In total, the country has 183,735 lives lost due to covid-19.
