Last Tuesday, December 15, President Jair Bolsonaro declared that there is no possibility of renewing the emergency aid quotas for next year. In addition to confirming the non-extension of the emergency benefit, the chief executive also reformed that the creation of a new assistance program is out of the plan at this time.
Then the object of attention of the government and the population revolves around Bolsa Família, where the government seeks strategies to increase the value of the benefit, in addition to improving transfers to the most vulnerable population in the country.

In a scenario where several parliamentarians have been demanding the extension of emergency aid, the economic team has already ruled out this possibility from the deck. Therefore, a large part of the population that depends on emergency aid to earn a living may be left without any income from January.
With that, the bet now to minimize the impacts caused by the pandemic is to increase the amount paid by Bolsa Família. It should be remembered that on November 16, the Ministry of Citizenship had already announced the new “disguise of the social program”.
In the next few days the project that will change the Bolsa Família rules will be announced. According to the Minister of Citizenship, Onyx Lorenzoni in an event promoted in the Guanabara Palace, the idea is that at least 20 million Brazilians can be contemplated with the new changes to Bolsa Família.
The minister also said that there will be an increase in the average ticket paid to Bolsa Família beneficiaries, but did not give many details, only describing the change as “revolutionary.”
Onyx Lorenzoni also reported that “the program [novo Bolsa Família] it is ready, everything is arranged, it has already been presented to the president, everything that is missing is fine and has nothing to do with money, especially since we have planned 34.8 billion reais for next year ”.
In addition to the new value for Bolsa Família, some additional benefits can be included in the low-income program. See:
- Monthly childcare subsidy of R $ 52 per child;
- Annual prize of R $ 200 for the students with the best performances;
- Monthly scholarship of R $ 100, in addition to an annual award of R $ 1,000, for outstanding students in science and technology;
- Monthly scholarship of R $ 100, in addition to an annual award of R $ 1,000, for students who obtain the best performances in sports activities;
- Childcare subsidy of R $ 200 for mothers registered in Bolsa Família.
