Due to Covid complications, the daughter of one of Brazil’s most famous couples arrived early. DJ Alok and his wife, Dr. Romana Novais, exclusively told the details of the drama that still lives.
In a conversation with reporter Renata Ceribelli, Alok and Romana showed the first photos of Raika, the couple’s second daughter. The 11-day-old baby remains in a neonatal ICU.
“The first 48 hours were extremely difficult, I just managed to keep praying, asking God that everything would go well and that it would not be okay. But the Roman was … ”Alok says.
Renata ceribelli – Romana, didn’t you take Raika on your lap?
Romanian – Renata, for me it is the most difficult of all, you know? Because mom, right? We want to be, breastfeed and the dream of breastfeeding like that, I didn’t have it. Our contact was very quick when she was born. I was so afraid of everything that I didn’t even want to touch her because of COVID and they took her from me, took her to the ICU and we separated.
Alok – Romana has been a great warrior. He has not been able to stay with Raika for nine days because he has not yet tested negative for COVID. I was able to see her after seven days, a week later. First I went to hug my son, Ravi. I stayed with him, then I went to the maternity ward and I always pass the information on to Romana as well.
Romanian – We make video calls, the only way I have to be closer to her now, is that right? What scared me the most was that things got worse very quickly. On Monday I started with symptoms of pain in the body, a little feverish, on Tuesday too.
Alok – I never would have imagined that he was in labor, I thought it was a problem that he should be feeling some discomfort so let’s take him to Dr. Erika
Romanian – Then I came to the clinic with Alok to be evaluated and we did an ultrasound but suddenly, after a few minutes, when I was changing to do another exam, I started to bleed a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot and I was very scared. He was bleeding non-stop, there was blood all over the room. Alok was very nervous
Renata – At that moment you said: I lost my baby.
Romanian – I just shouted: I need to save my daughter, I have a lot of pain, it hurts too much, and it was a pain that I cannot describe and … a lot of blood, a lot of blood. We went straight to the hospital in the car, I was already imagining that she was coming or something worse, right? I thought she might not be alive.
Alok – I’m sorry Renata, we don’t talk much about it, we get a little emotionally discouraged
