Paulo Guedes, Minister of Economy, affirmed that the government’s plan for emergency help It is to finish it in December of this year, with a return to Bolsa Família as a cash transfer program.
“The answer today, if you ask, what is the emergency relief plan? Gradual withdrawal … emergency aid ends. That was 600, it dropped to 300 and it’s over, we went back to Bolsa Família ”, said Guedes during an online event organized by Abras.
The minister reported that this is plan A, considering that the coronavirus outbreak is decreasing in the country and the economy, reacting. According to the payment schedule for emergency aid, the last installment will be paid on December 31.
Even so, during his participation, Guedes affirmed that, if a second wave of coronavirus arrives in the country, the aid must be maintained and a new state of public calamity will be decreed.
However, the minister said that public spending will be lower in a new confrontation with the virus, standing at around 4% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), compared to 10% of GDP this year.
“Our working hypothesis is to remove the stimuli, that’s what we are doing, they were 600 (reais), we went down to 300, then it lands there in front or in a basic income version of Renda Brasil, or in the Bolsa Família that existed before, ”he said.
Aid extended until December
President Jair Bolsonaro announced the extension of emergency assistance for four months worth R $ 300. The extension of the aid was made official through a provisional measure and must be approved by deputies and senators in the National Congress.
