Andrés Rueda, president-elect of Santos this Saturday (12), promises that the club will not be led by a top hat that understands football. His plan is to leave the department under the responsibility of whoever he considers an expert on the subject while he focuses on the administrative problems of the association.
For the new leader, the black and white problem is not in football, but in finances.
“I am a candidate for president, not a soccer coach. For that, I will have qualified people by my side, as I have in the CG (Management Committee), as I have (José Renato) Quaresma, who will be the mirror of football (in CG). Within football, I will have the technical director, who will be responsible for this, ”said Rueda during the campaign to Grupo Tribuna.
“Guys, our club is drowning financially, on the field it has been doing well. So this shows that our mistake is not on the field,” he added at the time.
Rueda’s desire to get away from the “boleiro” top hat image was controversial during the campaign when he said he hated soccer fans.
“Guys, to clarify, when I say I hate those who understand football, it is these pseudo-coaches who broke the club, the ones who broke Santos. That understanding they have, of corruption, of everything outside, with the wrong commissions. These, I hate these guys. And we are there to change the concept of football, with things that are clean, transparent, which is what the club needs, ”Rueda said in a video posted on Twitter. He did not cite the names of the officials he referred to.
Rueda assumes the place that Orlando Rollo occupied on the first day of 2021.
