Carlos Boechat, elected councilor in Niterói, dies from Covid-19 | Rio de Janeiro

The elected councilor of Niterói in 2020 and brother of journalist Ricardo Boechat, Carlos Boechat, died on Saturday afternoon (12) from Covid-19.

At the age of 70, the engineer entered the Intensive Care Center (CTI) of the Casa de Saúde Santa Martha.

On December 4, Carlos Boechat’s social media page even posted a post saying that he was “surprising doctors with his will to live.”

The mayor of Niterói, Rodrigo Neves, paid tribute on Facebook to what he called “a tireless friend.”

“She bravely fought COVID-19, but sadly she died recently. An immense pain and sadness in the heart for the departure of this tireless, honored friend, who always transmitted positive energies to everyone! May God welcome him to the reunion with his brother and console the hearts of his wife Patrícia, children, grandchildren, Mrs. Mercedes and friends. Boechat present, ”said the mayor.

Before the 2020 elections, Carlos held the position of Regional Administrator of the Niterói Oceanic Region. He leaves behind a wife, four children and two grandchildren.
