On Monday, presenter Benjamin Back officially made his exit from Fox Sports after deciding not to renew his relationship with Disney. After six years in the channel, an obstacle in the negotiations was fundamental for the decision to take new directions in his career: the exclusivity clause requested by the American company.
Benja, who also works at SBT and other media outlets, disagreed with the idea of remaining exclusive and decided not to stay. In an interview with SPEAR!, the presenter explained his decision and even cited the lack of financial compensation to make such a commitment.
– I had defined myself some time ago. The issue of exclusivity was something that I would have to give up in everything I do. I couldn’t have other projects on Open TV, YouTube, Radio, Podcast, Newspaper … Professionally it would be very bad. He would have to give up everything without having an economic increase. I am saddened by people fired. Everyone on the street: costume designers, maids … The whole situation is very sad – he said.

Benja, however, made it clear that she had no disagreement at the end of the relationship with the station.
– There was no fight, no nonsense. The dialogue was transparent, friendly and always objective. What mattered was the issue of exclusivity, something that was determined by the management of the station abroad – he explained.
The presenter also recognized the importance of the channel in his professional career and thanked his former boss: Eduardo Zebini, who hired him and played an important role during the period on Fox Sports.
– I have a boy inside and another outside. They were wonderful years, a fairy tale. I have to thank Eduardo Zebini, who was the guy who trusted me and opened the doors for me. And, of course, all Fox Sports employees. It was incredible. There were two World Cups, two Liberators, I interviewed Neymar in Paris, I received Jorge Jesús on my program, the only one who was in Brazil, Adriano Imperador, Ronaldo Fenômeno … It cannot be forgotten – he recalled.
Now Benjamin Back shifts his focus to SBT where he hosts the “Arena SBT” show every Monday. According to the journalist, who praised the environment and structure of Sílvio Santos’ channel, he also has other projects and intends to also focus on the digital world.
– I really enjoy working at SBT. It is the second radio station with the largest audience, with a great structure and a very good work environment. My focus is on SBT. It is a great challenge, an Open TV program that brings an interesting format. I have other projects for 2021, which have been planned for some time. I will also focus on the digital world, being a generator of content and, of course, I intend to be closer to the brands – he concluded.
