RIO – The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro issued a recommendation this Thursday to the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, and the Municipal Secretary of Health, so that the flexibility phase adopted by the municipality of Rio is compatible with the indicators referred to the percentage of occupancy of ICU beds in the city.

The MP analyzed the data of the municipality itself and came to the conclusion that since November 20 “all the indicators have entered a rate of exponential deterioration, which indicates the technical need for a phase regression.”

“So far, public managers have not promoted the adaptation of the current phase of the reopening plan to the technical parameters established in the administrative act that guides the gradual reopening of the city of Rio de Janeiro,” says an extract from the recommendation .

Wanted, the Rio City Council assures that “the management of the new coronavirus pandemic is the responsibility of the Executive Power” and that “conversations have been held with the State Government to implement the new measures suggested by the Municipal Scientific Committee.”

After the City Council’s scientific committee suggested the return of restrictive measures to curb the advance of Covid-19 in Rio, acting Governor Claudio Castro, who met with Mayor Marcelo Crivella on Thursday, once again denied that the state adopt any new restrictive measures.

– We won’t take any step back. What we are doing is working to open beds and improve inspection. It makes no sense to take measures that the population does not comply with, ”said Castro.

The meeting to jointly define the measures to be taken is something common since Claudio Castro assumed the state government. However, if the municipality of Rio does not take any action, it will be the first time that Mayor Marcelo Crivella contradicts the Committee’s suggestions.

In high cases and pressure for beds. The experts who make up the scientific committee of the city of Rio suggested that the municipality adopt new measures of social isolation to stop the spread of the disease. Among the suggested measures is the closure of schools, the prohibition of the presence of bathers on the beaches and the programming of commercial hours, including bars and restaurants.

COVID-19: the municipal network has 99% capacity in ICU beds and there is a queue of vacancies throughout the state; RJ registers 127 deaths and 3.7 thousand cases

The minutes of the meeting were signed by 28 people, including specialists and city officials, such as Health Secretary Beatriz Busch. According to the document published in the Official Gazette of the municipality this Thursday, other more restrictive measures were discussed:

“The Committee discussed several proposals to restrict the movement of people, to guarantee social distance, considering the need to significantly reduce circulation to guarantee the reduction of contagion, even for a short period (2 to 3 weeks). , taking into account that the impacts of the electoral period (large movement of people) were not yet fully absorbed by the current data, that the end of this process would tend to reduce the movement of people, and that, therefore, it would take longer for this. analysis. And the most restrictive proposals were unsuccessful, “says the minutes.

Asked about the measures to be taken, the governor said that a press conference with Marcelo Crivella will be called on Friday to explain what measures to take. Castro advanced some:

– It is our duty to increase the application. We are still in the phase of opening the bed. We have already opened many beds that relied on few things to open. Today we have equipment left due to the closure of field hospitals.

COVID-19: The state of Rio has the highest mortality rate in Brazil, says Fiocruz

Castro also says that the queue that is published every day does not reflect the current reality, since many patients are in beds in UPA that have equipment “almost like an ICU.”

– That cold number does not reflect reality and the technical teams will show it tomorrow. The line is not as long as it seems. There are UPAs today, they have almost CTI teams and others, almost none. We have beds to open even in our hospitals – he said.

CoronaVac: The dossier will be sent to Anvisa until December 15, says the director of Butantan

The governor also met with the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, at the Biotechnology and Health Industrial Complex (Cibs), in Santa Cruz, this Thursday.
