Prosecutors and prosecutors from the São Paulo Public Ministry saw their plan to “skip the line” of vaccination against Covid-19 collapsed. At a meeting held on the 24th, a petition was presented to the Attorney General of the State of São Paulo, Mário Luiz Sarrubbo, who requested that the deputies be included in the groups that will have priority to receive the vaccine. However, Sarrubbo, while initially sympathetic to the idea, spoke later and made it clear that he will not pursue the case.

At the meeting of the Superior Council of the Public Ministry of São Paulo, the request was formally presented by the counselor Arual Martins. At that time, an extract from the document was read, signed by various promoters and prosecutors, with the justifications for the priority vaccination request, which does not even have a date prediction.

It is not a question of selfishness in relation to other careers, but, above all, in view of first-graders, who work with audiences, public service, and other activities in which social contact is extremely large and is part of our day. up to date, ”reads an extract from the petition that appears in the minutes of the meeting.

Later, the attorney general was in favor of the initiative and stated that he would take the request of the deputies to the governor of São Paulo, João Dória.

However, this Wednesday (02/12), the information was published on the website Brazil of Fato, resounding on social media. For this reason, Sarrubbo clarified, in audio recorded in a messaging application, that he will not do what, during the meeting, he said he would do.

According to the attorney general, this is not a change of position, since he guarantees that he never thought of looking for João Doria to take the request of the deputies to the governor.

“This was brought to me at the meeting, which was a tense meeting, and I said (I was going to take the petition) just to finish the matter. Obviously I did not speak to the governor about it. I did not, I will not and I do not believe that needs to be done. I am sorry that this issue has had such an impact, “said Sarrubbo.

The MP-SP sent a note to the press stating that it is “sure that the health authorities of São Paulo and Brazil will define the schedule for applying the vaccine against the new coronavirus with scientific criteria, prioritizing the immunization of the most affected sectors of the population “. vulnerable to Covid-19, both medically and socially. Such a definition, of course, will be fully accepted by the institution, which has demonstrated, with the work of prosecutors and prosecutors across the state during this pandemic period, that your top priority is one: saving as many lives as possible. “
