Mercedes boss Toto Wolff announced Wednesday morning that George Russell will replace Lewis Hamilton at the Sakhir Grand Prix, the penultimate race of the Formula 1 World Championship next weekend in Bahrain. Seven-time champion upfront, Hamilton recovers after testing positive for Covid-19.

Russell made his F1 debut last year, when he already showed service at Williams despite all the precarious conditions presented by the English team. With 36 events played so far, he has yet to score, but is considered one of the great promises of the sport.
For George Russell’s place at Sakhir, Williams confirmed Jack Aitken. The 25-year-old Briton competes in the Formula 2 World Championship, led by Mick Schumacher, son of Michael Schumacher and who was confirmed this Wednesday as one of Hass’ drivers in 2021. Aitken drives Campos Racing and occupies 14th position of the championship.
