Silva’s victory at Joinville was unexpected and he overthrew Matos, a traditional and experienced figure in local politics. The candidate started the race in the first round in fourth place at the polls, with only 6.6% of voting intentions. But in the final stretch of the first stage of the electoral process, it grew and surprised by receiving 22.98% of the votes and guaranteeing its place in the second round.
Against the performance of the party, which elected only 29 councilors in this year’s municipal elections, Adriano Silva then became the biggest bet for the second round. When he assumed leadership at the polls after the first stage of the electoral process, he received the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), who spent a day in the city to campaign for him. In an interview with CBN radio, Silva said he was honored with the victory and thanked the voters who believed in the “new policy”, Novo’s main banner.
Saint Paul: ‘It is possible to do politics without hatred’, says Bruno Covas, in his first speech as elected mayor of São Paulo
– It is a great honor to be in charge of the mayor of the largest city in the state of Santa Catarina, in a beautiful campaign, a campaign with purpose, a campaign with projects, a campaign full of volunteers. That is why we want to thank all those people who believed in us, who brought the idea of this new policy, this new format. We will work hard to rescue the pride of our city – declared.
With a degree in business administration and marketing, Adriano Silva assumed the presidency of the family business in 2013, and consolidated the company as a national leader in nutritional supplements. To get into politics, he went to the Novo party in 2018 and then studied public policy for a year with RenovaBR, an initiative to train new political leaders. The group has the support of presenter Luciano Huck, and launched popular names such as current deputies Tabata Amaral (PDT-SP) and Felipe Rigoni (PSB-ES).

The proposals for the city are aligned with the ideology of the party he chose. He preaches public-private partnerships (PPPs) to expand public health programs and cut economic policy bureaucracy to expand business initiatives. To form the secretariat, he has already stated in interviews that he intends to follow the party’s guidelines and launch a selection and recruitment process based on the person’s background, training and profile. The initiative is a priority for the mayor-elect and should be addressed already in the transition period.
– It’s a little less than 20 days, excluding Christmas and New Years, so our concern will be to form a first team, a first step. We have already prepared a format to create a selection process, as is our model, for the Novo party, and by tomorrow or early Tuesday, we should already be aware of the format in which people can participate in this selection process.
The deputy mayor-elect is journalist Rejane Gambin and, like the mayor, he is a newbie to political squabbling.
