Caio Cunha, from Vamos, was elected mayor of Mogi das Cruzes this Sunday (29), in the second round of the 2020 elections. The candidate defeated the current mayor Marcus Melo, from the PSDB.
With 100% of the votes counted, the valid votes totaled 196,370, of which 58.39% went to Cunha and 41.61% to Melo. The second round dispute did not happen in two decades in Mogi.
Born in Mogi das Cruzes, Caio Cunha is 42 years old and in his second term as a councilor. With experience in information technology, he is a postgraduate student in Project Management at Esalq / USP and a master’s degree in Smart Sustainable Cities. He studied “Early Childhood Education” and “Fight Against Drugs” as a fellow at the University of Zurich.
The vice candidate is Professor Priscila Yamagami Kahler, 48. The “Occupy the City” coalition also includes the PTB and Solidaridad.
Caio is part of the Livres Political Action for Sustainability Network (Raps) and is Lemann’s public leader.
