Saud, from the MDB, was elected this Sunday (29), in the second round, mayor of Taubaté (SP) for the next four years. He beat candidate Loreny, from Cidadania, at the polls.

With 99.83% of the votes counted, according to data from the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), Saud had 92,545 votes (65% of valid votes), compared to 49,842 votes for Loreny, which represents 35% of the votes. .
The election of Taubaté had a 31.5% abstention, 3.19% white votes and 5.82% null votes.

Saud’s victory at the polls breaks an eight-year cycle of toucans management in the city, which had already been confirmed after the candidate supported by current mayor Ortiz Júnior (PSDB), was third at the polls in the 1st return.
In addition to Saud and Loreny, the candidates in Taubaté also competed for the candidates Captain Souza (PRTB), Chico Oiring (PSC), Dodô (PTC), Eduardo Cursino (PSDB), Fabiano Vanone (Pode), Professor Ronaldo (PSOL), Professor Fernando Borges (PCdoB) and Salvador Khuriyeh (PT).
The new mayor is 57 years old and a businessman. He has a degree in physics and civil engineering and previously directed the Associação Comercial de Taubaté. The vice is Adriana Mussi, president of the city’s Guardianship Council.
This was the second time that Saud ran for mayor. In 2016 it ranked third in the electoral dispute, when it obtained 23,742 votes.
The emedebista had experience in public positions in 2013, when he held the position of Secretary of Tourism and Culture in the management of Ortiz Júnior. He resigned claiming he would pursue special projects.
Saud’s government plan is divided into four axes: economic development, social development, sustainability, and promotion of democratic participation.
Throughout the government plan, Saud is committed to promoting technological innovation and creating a program to facilitate access to the labor market. It also proposes to deploy telemarketing and digitize city council protocols. Saud also said it will make free Wi-Fi available.
In health, it proposes public tenders to expand the number of employees and joint efforts for low complexity surgeries. In education, he wants to guarantee early childhood education for children and the recognition of teachers.
The emedebista also promises to bring culture to the neighborhoods and make a public-private partnership for high-performance sports. In terms of security, it promises to strengthen electronic surveillance and expand delegated activity and strengthen the Municipal Guard.
Saud also promises to implement a veterinary emergency room and create a housing project, with the aim of delivering land and construction materials to the citizen.
