President Jair Bolsonaro suggested on Friday (27) the payment of emergency aid for those over 65 years of age.

“If I had the authority to seek a solution to this, I would provide emergency assistance to those over 65 [anos], may be a higher value. It is much cheaper ”, said the president, when he arrived at the Palácio da Alvorada.

The representative’s speech was posted on a Bolsonar website.

The president did not elaborate on the matter. His speech came while he was talking to a supporter about the possible extension of aid, something that, according to the president, “breaks the economy.”

The R $ 600 emergency aid was created as a source of income for the population affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Since September, the amount has been reduced to R $ 300.

This week, the president said he hoped the renewal of aid was not necessary.

In the conversation with supporters on Friday night, the president reiterated that there was a “terrible wave, a panic” in the population due to the coronavirus.

“Now people made a terrible wave there. [a covid-19] killed people? Delicate. We know. Unfortunately a lot of people died, right? But they made a terrible wave, a panic in the population. There are elderly people who are inside the house until now ”, he declared.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the virus has so far infected 6.2 million people in Brazil, with almost 172,000 deaths.

When interacting with supporters, Bolsonaro was asked about reducing taxes on bicycles.

He used the answer to comment on the tax reform.

“In a tax reform, which is difficult to get out, because there are many interests on the table, the idea is to reduce it there. But for now I do not see it in the short term. I believe that this year we can start tax reform, it will depend after the future Chamber of the Chamber and the Senate also elected ”, he concluded.
