An accident between a bus and a truck left at least 41 dead on Wednesday morning (11/25) in Taguaí, in the interior of São Paulo.
The bus was carrying about 50 employees of a textile company. According to the initial information, the collision between the collective vehicle and the truck occurred around 7 am, in a curve at km 172 of the Alfredo de Oliveira Carvalho Highway, in Taguaí, in an area near the city of Taquarituba (SP ).
The road was closed all morning; by early afternoon, he was still impassable and his release was not scheduled. Rescuers from the Highway Police and Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after the collision.
Initial information indicates that the bus left Itaí, passed through Taquarituba and was involved in the crash on its way to its final destination, which was a textile company in Taguaí.
Many people on the bus got caught between the hardware. Some died at the scene, others were sent to hospitals in the region.
Dr. Gabriel Ortega, from Santa Casa de Taquarituba, said that he had never seen a situation similar to the accident. In an interview with CNN Brazil, he affirmed that the professionals who work in the health unit, where some of the survivors were transferred, considered the crash as something new and catastrophic.
Taquarituba’s health coordinator, Natali Fonseca, told the network that the city’s network of medical services received eight victims, two of whom died shortly after arriving at the scene.
According to the G1 portal, the latest report on the accident, at 1:30 p.m., indicates that 10 injured are being treated in three hospitals in the region: Taguaí, Fartura and Taquarituba.
According to G1, the truck, which was transporting manure, invaded a rural property after the collision with the bus. The driver was transferred to the emergency department of the municipality of Fartura (SP). There is no information on his current health status.
Assistance to victims
In a note, the São Paulo Secretariat of Public Security reported that it activated the Legal Medicine Institutes (IML) in the cities of Avaré, Botucatu and Itapetininga to attend to “the large number of deaths as soon as possible.” The victims are still being identified.

In an interview with G1, Lieutenant Alexandre Guedes, spokesman for the São Paulo PM, said that it was the biggest accident of the year on state highways.
The Civil and Military Police are at the scene of the accident to monitor the case. An Eagle helicopter, from the Campinas base, was activated to help with the work.
The place of the accident will be subjected to an expert examination, which will indicate the causes of the collision between the vehicles.
