Germany’s 16 federal states proposed on Tuesday (24) that the federal government limit Christmas and New Year celebrations to a maximum of 10 people to prevent coronavirus transmissions, according to France Presse.
Among the set of proposals to curb the movement of people during the Christmas season, the German states also suggest quarantining participants before and after the celebrations. Children under the age of 14 will not be counted in the limitations.
The restrictions would take effect on December 23 and would last until January 1.
Regions, however, oppose a total ban on fireworks in the days leading up to December 31, a topic hotly debated in Germany for an industry that generates millions of euros in revenue.
All these proposals will be debated on Wednesday (25) with the federal government.
