For the second consecutive round, and playing in Mineirão, Cruzeiro failed to win in the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. After drawing with the Guaraní, now it was Raposa’s turn to stumble against Figueirense, when he was 1 to 1 with the Santa Catarina team, tonight (20), for the 22nd match. The goals of the match were scored by Léo Artur for the visitors, and then Airton sought the equalizer.
Cruzeiro had 11 days to work, as the calendar gave gaps, but even so the blue team was unable to show the effectiveness expected by the fans on the field. The result was appalling, as was the football presented by Felipão’s team, which fails to establish a winning streak and parks near the relegation zone.
The main team in the tie obtained 25 points in position 15. Figueirense with 20 in 18th position.
After long days without matches, now, counting the match with Figueirense, Raposa will face a tough sequence of commitments. There will be eight more games in almost a month.
Cruzeiro’s next match will be against the leader Chapecoense, a team that packed up and has ten points more than second-placed Sampaio Corrêa (47 to 37). Figueira faces Sampaio Corrêa in Orlando Scarpelli.
Conscious shirt
The Cruzeiro players entered the field wearing shirts with crossed prejudiced phrases, the result of an action on Black Awareness Day. The initiative was conceived by the club in collaboration with the Observatory of Racial Discrimination in Football.
Terms like “black service”, “crazy denial”, “denigrate”, “nightstand”, “black list”, “black thing”, “the color of sin” and “the thing is scratched on the players’ uniform “black”.
The action received numerous praise on social media.
Who did it well: Airton and Léo Artur
After the arrival of Felipão “appeared” the forward’s football. There are already four goals in Serie B, a statistic higher than that of all the players in the offensive sector of the blue squad, including Marcelo Moreno, who, in theory, should be Raposa’s “goalkeeper”.
Léo Artur scored a great goal and opened the scoring after a fierce counterattack. With four shots to the ball counting the entire offensive play, Figueirense scored his first goal.
Who went wrong: Patrick Brey
He shot the worst in the field considering Cruzeiro and Figueirense. The left-back did not support the attack and in defense “caught the ball” and disconcerting dribbles from Figueirense’s attackers and socks.
New faces
Tonight marked the rehearsal for striker Rafael Sóbis for Cruzeiro. On the field, the player played until eight minutes into the second half, when he gave way to Arthur Caíke, and had a regular performance, without much prominence.
On the Figuei side, coach Jorginho, who replaced Elano, worked for the first time on the bench for the Santa Catarina team.
Game timeline
In the 11th minute of the first half, in an almanac counterattack, Bruno Michel launched Léo Artur, who received the deep shot, took off towards the Cruzeirense area and blocked goalkeeper Fábio: 1 to 0.
In the 35th minute, Cruzeiro reached the equalizer. Airton, one of Raposa’s highlights with Felipão, received in the middle from the left, charged to the middle and kicked in position, from outside the area. The ball still hit the post earlier and died at the bottom of Sidão’s nets: 1 to 1.
