BRASÍLIA – The National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) requested a meeting with the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, to address the “confrontation of the 2nd wave of Covid-19.” The entity affirms, in a letter, that a new escalation of cases may lead to an “epidemiological tragedy of worse proportions” than the first expansion of the disease in Brazil. The secretaries want R $ 3 billion in resources and 20 million in rapid tests, with the materialization of a strategy of extensive testing of the population.

“Any expression of denial of the risk of a new spread of the disease in the national territory could lead to a scenario of epidemiological tragedy of worse proportions than that experienced in the first expansion of cases.
