BH the sixth most competitive capital in Brazil; Six mining towns stand out – Gerais

This Thursday (19) the Competitiveness Ranking of Municipalities was published, which analyzes the data of the public gesture and indicators socioeconomic cities, distributed in 12 thematic pillars.

Belo Horizonte was the sixth best capital stuck throughout the ranking and leader in Minas Gerais. Uberlndia, Nova Lima, Poos de Caldas, Lavras and Uberaba also stood out, being among the 50 best classified.

The intention that the data serves as tool for private initiative in decision-making on investments.

In addition, it also aims to highlight the importance competition in the sector public for the promotion of justice, equity and socioeconomic development in cities, ensuring higher quality services to the population.

The ranking is based on 55 indicators, distributed in 12 pillars thematic considered essential for the promotion of competitiveness and the improvement of public management in Brazilian cities: Fiscal Sustainability, Operation of the Public Machine, Access to Health, Quality of Health, Access to Education, Quality of Education, Safety , Sanitation and Environment, Economic Integration, Innovation and Economic Dynamism, Human Capital and Telecommunications.

Produced by the Public Leadership Center (CLP), in alliance with Gove Digital and Sebrae, 405 municipalities in Brazil with more than 80 thousand inhabitants were analyzed.

“After nine editions of the Ranking of Competitiveness of the States, we decided to expand the anlise competitiveness of public management also for the municipal level ”, says Tadeu Barros, CLP’s Director of Operations.

“The newly elected can get a broad mapping of the challenges, directing, more precisely, the action of municipal leaders to plan and act on what is a priority. On the other hand, in addition to attracting new companies, it also tool so that citizens can efficiently evaluate and collect the performance of public policy makers ”, he adds.

6th capital, 11th city of the country

The capital of Minas Gerais stood out among Brazilian cities, reaching 11th place and obtaining an overall score of 58.94. In the dimension of the Institutions, which takes into sustainability taxes and the operation of the public machine, it reached 67.06.

In the Society pillar, which takes into account access to health and education and its quality, safety, sanitation and environment, BH obtained 72.

In the economy, which has insertion, innovation and economic dynamism as criteria, capital human and telecommunications, capital was evaluated at 41.12. The grades range from 0 to 100.

Featured in Mines

Uberlndia and Uberaba, in Tringulo, Nova Lima, in Gran BH, and Poos de Caldas and Lavras, in the South, were the mining towns with the best performance no ranking.

In specific terms, Poos de Caldas was a national highlight in Telecommunications, reaching first place in the entire country for good indices mobile telephony and fiber optic broadband access.

Lavras, in turn, ranked third in Human Capital, due to its good numbers in gross enrollment in Higher Education.

J Nova Lima ranked first nationally in one of the main indicators: economic insertion. This is because it works well in increase formal commitments and formality in the labor market.
