According to information from the Military Police and the Civil Police, Edney was killed with three shots to the head.

Hours before his death, Edney had posted on a social network celebrating the result of the municipal elections. The Civil Police, however, ruled out that the crime was politically motivated and analyzed the images.
No suspect has yet been arrested.

The cameras show the moment when two men on a motorcycle approached the journalist’s car in the opposite direction.
The crime occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Getúlio Vargas Street and Itamar Dias Avenue.
The suspect in the back shot the victim.
Journalist murdered in Peixoto de Azevedo
Residents called the police after witnessing the crime. The PM found the victim already dead in the vehicle, an HB20. His cell phone and belongings were left at the scene.
The case is treated as a homicide.
The images of the security cameras were collected and will be analyzed in the investigation of the Civil Police.
