Alfredo Gaspar de Mendonça, from MDB, and JHC, from PSB, will decide in the second round, on the 29th, who will be the next mayor of Maceió. With 100% of the votes counted, according to data from the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Gaspar had 110,234 votes (28.87%) and JHC 109,053 votes (28.56%).

The Maceió election had 21,001 blank votes (4.73%) and 41,261 invalid votes (9.29%). The TSE did not reveal the number of abstentions.
Alfredo Gaspar de Mendonça Neto is 50 years old, has a degree in law and a postgraduate degree in public law. He was a prosecutor for more than 20 years, attorney general and secretary of State for Public Security in the first term of Governor Renan Filho (MDB). It has a declared equity of R $ 341,626.09. The vice is Tácio Melo (PODE), 40 years old.
João Henrique Holland Caldas, JHC, is 33 years old, is a lawyer, specialist in digital law and compliance, with a master’s degree in public and business management. He was elected in 2014 as the most voted federal deputy in Alagoas. In the 2018 general elections he was a candidate for reelection, being the most voted federal deputy in Brazil, proportionally. It has a declared equity of R $ 1,973,391.98. The vice is Ronaldo Lessa (PDT), 71 years old.
Alfredo Gaspar’s government plan is based on five pillars for the development of Maceió, ranging from the implementation of public policies and actions focused on quality of life, through the sustainable city, acting to reduce socio-territorial inequalities; policies that should boost the local economy through income generation; security in partnership with the state government and data integration to accelerate management processes. In the health area, the candidate proposes the creation of the Digital Health Program and the strengthening of the Family Health Support Centers (NASF).
JHC bases its government plan on guidelines, dimensions and proposals to achieve well-being, social inclusion, efficiency and innovation capable of promoting the socio-environmental and economic development of Maceió. Among them are the implementation of new forms of government innovation and efficiency in public spending; reduction of social vulnerability; promote efficiency and quality in public transport services; improve the quality and access to health and education services and value culture.
