Rafael Greca, DEM, was re-elected mayor of Curitiba this Sunday (15). The result came out at 7:45 pm, with 95.12% of the votes counted. Greca obtained 59.77% of the valid votes, totaling 475,889.

Greca won another 15 candidates and is expected to take office in January 2021. For the new term, Greca’s alternate will be Eduardo Pimentel (PSDB). It will be Greca’s third term.

The first partial of the calculation of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) came out at 5:20 p.m. From then on, it took more than two hours for Greca’s re-election to be confirmed, still without the final countdown.
Proposals during the campaign
During the campaign, Rafael Greca cited some government proposals that he intends to implement in the second term.
For transport, for example, he said that he will continue betting on the BRT system, on the lines of the North-South, East-West and Inter II lines, with electric buses.
On the subject of urban mobility, the new mayor said that he will institute an integrated metropolitan mobility system in which the user will be able to consult the travel time and the value of the different modes. The plan promises to replace the current fleet of taxis and buses with electric cars.
The candidate says he will expand the bike lane network and provide public bicycles. The program also provides for the completion of works on the Green Line. The program foresees restructuring the integration terminals “for a better operation, comfort and safety of the users.”
Regarding health for the new management, Greca said that he will make joint efforts to meet the demands of the new coronavirus pandemic. Among the proposals, there is the realization of teleconsultations with specialists to instruct the doctors in the Basic Health Units.
For early childhood education, Greca said he will build ten new CMEIs and 25 entire schools. The candidate also promised to implement a Center for Specialized Educational Services for Down Syndrome and to invest in Faros.

The current mayor of the capital, who is 64 years old, was in command of the city council for the first time between 1993 and 1996. Still in politics, he was a councilor, constituent state deputy, federal deputy and minister of Sports and Tourism.
Graduated in economics and engineering, he specialized in urban planning and is a public member of the Curitiba Research and Urban Planning Institute (Ippuc).
