Nine of the 10 candidates for mayor of Macapá announced on Saturday (14) that they will ask the Electoral Justice for a new change in the date of the election in the city.

The vote, which takes place across the country this Sunday, was postponed due to the blackout hitting the state. Following the publication of new dates for the municipal elections in the capital, seven of the ten candidates spoke out against it.

The Regional Electoral Tribunal (TRE-AP) established that the elections will be the 1st round on December 13th and the 2nd round on December 27th, if applicable. The dates have yet to be evaluated by the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE).

The candidates defend the elections of November 29 and December 13. The petition was signed during a press conference and is due Saturday afternoon.

In the speeches, the candidates defended the shortening of the vote, which, in the event of the TRE-AP deadline, would take place in one month. If there is a second round, the election would take place between Christmas and New Years.

Capi (PSB), Dr. Furlan (Citizenship), Guaracy (PSL), Patrícia Ferraz (Pode), Haroldo Iram (PTC), Professor Marcos (PT) and Lorena Quintas, vice president of Paulo Lemos ( PSOL). , which is in domestic isolation with Covid-19.

The candidate Gianfranco (PSTU) informed that he will sign the document. Josiel (DEM) said that it was not communicated at the press conference, but said that he would sign the petition for the elections to be held before the date set by the TRE.

Candidate Cirilo Fernandes (PRTB) did not participate in the press conference and was not found to comment on the initiative.

Amapá entered the 12th day of the blackout, rotating the electricity supply. The problem affects 13 of the 16 municipalities and also affected the water supply. The Children’s Emergency Room (PAI), the only pediatric emergency room in the state, saw an increase in the number of visits by children with gastrointestinal irritations, leading to vomiting and diarrhea. Parents and the health unit itself suspect that the problem is related to the blackout.

The postponement of the municipal elections in Macapá received criticism from the candidates. The decision, announced on Wednesday (11) by the TSE, is due to the crisis in the energy supply.

The election of the new calendar took place on Friday night (13), during an administrative session, after the president of the institution received security guarantees and the restoration of power in the city. The regional electoral prosecutor Joaquim Cabral agreed with the dates set.

In the session, the president of TRE-AP, Judge Rommel Araújo, justified the choice of dates and explained reasons that prevent it from taking place on the 29th, when the 2nd round will take place in some cities.

“The first idea, I even passed it on to the president of the TSE, Minister Barroso, is that we would hold the first round on the 29th, the date that would be the second round. the count of the second round in Brazil and the first round in the state of Amapá ”, declared the president.

The other 15 municipalities of Amapá must carry out the first round scheduled for this Sunday (15); Companhia de Eletricidade do Amapá (CEA) guaranteed the total supply of energy. Only 3 cities, with isolated systems, were not affected by the blackout that has hit the state since last week.
