There has been no update since the balance at 8pm on Thursday (12).

See consolidated figures:

  • 164,332 confirmed deaths
  • 5,783,647 confirmed cases

On Thursday, at 8:00 p.m., the balance indicated: 164,332 confirmed deaths, 926 in 24 hours. As a result, the moving average of deaths in Brazil in the last 7 days was 365. The variation was -16% compared to the average of 14 days ago, indicating a downward trend in deaths from Covid.

It’s the highest 24-hour death record since Sept. 16. This is probably a reflection of the reservoir caused after the problems of access to the Ministry of Health (e-SUS) system. Thus, some states such as SP, MG and RJ, which did not publish their bulletins for a few days, may have records of deaths and accumulated cases. This may explain the 926 deaths recorded in one day.

In confirmed cases, since the start of the pandemic, 5,783,647 Brazilians have had or have the new coronavirus, with 34,640 of those confirmed on the last day. The moving average of new cases in the last 7 days was 24,198 per day, a variation of 3% in relation to the cases registered in two weeks. That is, it indicates stability in relation to the last 14 days.

The state of Minas Gerais has not updated the number of deaths from the disease since Saturday (7). According to the State Health Department, the reason was due to problems accessing the e-SUS system. This is after five days of problems reported by various states.

In a note, the Ministry of Health reported that there was “intermittence in some systems”, but that “since late Tuesday afternoon (10), the platform has been stable and constantly monitoring its performance.”

Roraima reported a reduction in cases in the last bulletin due to an error in data disclosure.

Eight states show an increase in deaths: Paraná, Santa Catarina, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso, Acre, Amapá, Roraima and Pernambuco.

It is worth mentioning that there are states in which the low average number of deaths can lead to large percentage variations.

In RR, for example, which had the highest indication of increase, the moving average of deaths jumped from 0 to 2, resulting in a 900% increase. In AP, the average was 1 and it changed to 3, resulting in an increase of 186%. Moving average data is generally in decimal numbers and rounded for easy data presentation.

  • Top (8 states): PR, SC, ES, MT, AC and AP, the RR outside the PE,
  • In stability, that is, the number of deaths did not decrease or increase significantly (8 states + DF): DF, MS, PA, RO, TO, BA, PB, PI and RN
  • Falling (10 states): RS, MG, RJ, SP, GO, AM, AL, CE, MA and SE

This comparison takes into account the average of deaths in the last 7 days until the publication of this balance in comparison with the average registered two weeks ago (understand the criteria that G1 uses to analyze pandemic trends).
